At Zoomo, our people are the secret sauce to our success. Zoomers are a bunch of passionate, motivated and purpose-driven individuals all working towards the same mission of transitioning every urban delivery mile in light electric vehicles.
Our #HumansofZoomo blog series aims to shine a light on Zoomers around the business, and the different skills and roles that make Zoomo what it is today.
In today’s #HumansofZoomo blog we catch up with Jo O’Connor. Jo is a Lead Technical Mechanic at Zoomo, based in London. Jo tells us a little bit more about herself, the variety of a day at Zoomo, and what project she is most proud of.
I fell into the cycling industry completely by accident, thinking it would only be a part-time summer job while I studied at university. I was so completely wrong. I fell in love with the whole industry and the satisfaction of solving a problem or perfecting a process. There is so much to learn and understand around bikes and e-bikes and the playing field is constantly evolving around you that I could never be bored.
Everyday I’ve had at Zoomo has been different from the day before. Some days I’ll be visiting our sites around the UK, training, assessing and talking to our MANY mechanics, and some days I’ll be finding myself locked in my rework room, going through piles of damaged components in need of repair. I spend most of my time based in our Bermondsey Warehouse, where I get to work very closely with our team of mechanics, who are a genuine joy to be around and create a fantastic atmosphere.
Our Lithium Ion battery repair project. Responsibly and sustainably managing lithium ion batteries in quantity has been a passion project for me.
Just ask ALL the questions. “Who should I talk to about this?” “Where can I find that?”
We currently have a bunch of open roles across all markets. If you are interested in becoming a Human of Zoomo yourself, and are also keen to help us accelerate cities to carbon neutral, head to our Careers at Zoomo page.
